These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of safe-start.org (the "Site"), operated by SafeStart Global, Inc., an Illinois nonprofit corporation ("SafeStart," "we," "us"). By accessing or using the Site, including by making a donation, submitting a form, or subscribing to our newsletter, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
Use of the Site
You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with SafeStart's mission. You will not: (a) attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site or its related systems; (b) interfere with the Site's operation or security; (c) use the Site to transmit unlawful, defamatory, or harmful content; or (d) use automated means to scrape or extract data from the Site without our prior written consent.
Donations
- Voluntary and non-refundable. Donations made through the Site are voluntary contributions to SafeStart's charitable mission. Except as required by applicable law or as SafeStart determines appropriate in its discretion (for example, in cases of processing error or duplicate charge), donations are non-refundable.
- No guarantee of restricted use. Unless a donation is expressly accepted by SafeStart as restricted to a specific program or purpose in writing, donations will be used at SafeStart's discretion to further its charitable purposes generally.
- Tax deductibility. See the tax-deductibility disclosure in our Privacy Policy. Donors should consult their own tax advisor regarding the deductibility of any contribution.
- Third-party processing. Donations are processed by Zeffy and/or PayPal. Your use of the donation function is also subject to the applicable processor's terms of service.
Newsletter and Communications
By subscribing to our newsletter or submitting a contact/volunteer form, you consent to receive email communications from SafeStart. You may unsubscribe at any time as described in our Privacy Policy. We will not sell your contact information to third parties.
Intellectual Property
All content on the Site — including text, graphics, logos, and the SafeStart name and marks — is owned by SafeStart or its licensors and is protected by U.S. and international intellectual property laws. You may view, download, and print Site content for your own personal, non-commercial use, provided you do not remove any copyright or other proprietary notices. Any other use — including reproduction, modification, distribution, or republication — requires our prior written consent.
Third-Party Links
The Site may contain links to third-party websites, including our payment processor, social media platforms, and partner organizations. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of those third-party sites.

Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SAFESTART AND ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND VOLUNTEERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SITE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. NOTHING IN THESE TERMS LIMITS LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE LIMITED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SafeStart and its directors, officers, employees, and volunteers from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the Site.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state or federal courts located in Illinois.
Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
